Fowey and Mevagissey

Region: Cornwall
Monuments: Mevagissey Harbor. - A ferry ride across St. Austell bay. - Fowey and its river.

Combine a visit to two of Cornwall's most picturesque and contrasting ports with a return ferry trip across St Austell Bay aboard the 35 seat "Hannibal James".

Mevagissey with its colorful fleet of small fishing boats is a delight to wander, fishermen replaiting nets, art galleries and an aquarium, Fowey (pronounced Foy), with its delightful natural harbor and literary associations, Daphne Du Maurier grew up here, has a good selection of restaurants catering to the yachtmen who favor the area.

The ferry operators won't promise that you will see basking sharks, dolphins, gannets or the odd warship (but you might!).
