St Ives and the Tate

Region: Cornwall
Monuments: The Tate Gallery - The Barbara Hepworth Gallery - The town and harbor

An artistís colony since the 1920ís, St Ives is a typical and delightful English seaside resort.

The modern Tate Gallery overlooking Porthmeor Beach celebrates, in particular, the works of Barbara Hepworth, who was one of the foremost sculptors of her time and painter Patrick Heron whose Coloured Glass Window is a feature of the entrance to the gallery. Besides the Tate, the Barbara Hepworth Museum located in the home and garden in which she lived and worked, is also well worth a visit.

There are various artists studios located in the cottages in the back streets nearby the Tate who welcome visitors.
