Located overlooking St Ive’s Bay, West Cornwall Golf Club, inaugurated in 1894, is the oldest club in Cornwall.

Born in Lelant, the club’s most famous member was “Long” Jim Barnes winner of the inaugural USPGA Championship in 1916 and the USPGA Open in 1921. More recently member Philip Rowe captained the 1997 and Northern Ireland School boys team and was selected as a 20 year old for the 1999 Walker Cup.

Starting out with a par 3 towards the village church, the course makes its way towards Calamity Corner where many a card has been ruined, encompassing the two par threes and a short par 4 – holes 5-7 before heading into the dunes. Sloping fairways add another difficulty.

A full size snooker table takes up a good part of the bar area in this historic clubhouse which is full of delightful golfing memorabilia.
